America is in the middle of a historic transformation — one that affects how we power our homes, protect our communities, and lead on the global stage. At the heart of that transformation is energy.

And at the heart of America’s toughest missions? Veterans.

Project Vanguard is a newsletter and podcast exploring how veterans are leading the charge in Energy Dominance, workforce development, and national security. These are honest, real-world conversations — not polished talking points. We focus on service-driven leadership, the kind that doesn’t seek credit, but delivers results.

Veterans have always been at the forefront of big national shifts and today’s energy transition is no different. From microgrids and solar deployments to hydrogen hubs and transmission planning, vets are stepping up in every corner of the energy economy. Yet too few stories are being told.

We’re here to change that.

If you care about leadership, resilience, national security, or the future of American energy, this publication is for you.

Who Am I?

I’m Kevin Doffing, an Army veteran, entrepreneur, and the founder of Project Vanguard.

I’ve spent the last 15 years helping build organizations, grow veteran impact, and bring a mission-driven mindset to tough civilian challenges. From combat zones to boardrooms, I’ve seen what real leadership looks like and how badly we need more of it in the energy space.

My background spans energy, service, and advocacy — and we’re just getting started. I launched Project Vanguard because I believe this moment in America’s energy story demands a new kind of voice: grounded, unflinching, and fiercely committed to country and community. Too often the narratives around energy are political instead of practical.

This is for the veterans who want to serve again.
The employers who want to understand what service really means.
And the citizens who want to believe again in the strength of American leadership.

Welcome to Project Vanguard.
